How to downgrade the BIOS of Z170 Pro Gaming?
Hi.A few weeks ago I updated the BIOS to the latest version (3016) in hopes of gaining a bit more stability. I encountered some issues, chief amongst which was the keyboard not responding on POST. See I have two keyboards connected to my system. One is my main keyboard, Logitech G510 and the other one is my media keyboard, Logitech K400r. For whatever reason, I can only enter the bios with my media keyboard. Even when I enter the BIOS, my main keyboard is still unresponsive. I have to do my settings with the media keyboard (and since I'm trying to find a stable OC, it's really annoying). Disconnecting the media keyboard did not solve the issue.
It would be a big issue if I haven't had a secondary keyboard lying around. It really would. Apart from this, OC profile names aren't being saved. It also over volted my cpu in auto mode like a maniac. I use it in adaptive mode but it was still a lot of voltages. Things like that showed me that this bios wasn't properly built so I decided to go back to a version or two.
I downloaded and extracted the CAP files for version 1904 and 2003. I went into bios and tried flashing the bios with those files but I got an error message saying "Selected file is not a proper BIOS!". okay. I tried the other version, same error. Tried the latest version, it works. I decided to do some digging and came across with this article. Basically one tool to extract the CAP file contents. Then another one to flash the BIOS on windows enviroment.
Then I checked the comments. Up to 2016, all comments says it works. But if you scroll down a little bit more you'll see that people also say that it stopped working because due to this error: "Error 368: failed to disable write protection for the bios space. FPT Operation Failed". Which I'm guessing is a block from the motherboard side.
Then I come across this thread on reddit. Apperantly on Asus boards, the only way to go back to an older version of a BIOS is through a feature called "ASUS BIOS Flashback"
Which this motherboard lacks.
Honestly this is the first time I've heard such feature is exist, heck, even needed. We should be able to downgrade to the versions whenever we want from the BIOS. It should be as simple as that. So what am I supposed to do now?

Wow for some reason this ended up in the general section.I would appreciate it if admins move this thread to OTHER SERIES MOTHERBOARDS forums, as I can't delete it.
